Fight For the Bight
NEVERTOWN film screening - Q & A

Last month Land & Sea Brewery joined with Patagonia, The Surfrider Foundation & The Great Australian Bight Alliance to hold a film screening (Q & A) and Paddle Out to raise awareness and funds for the Great Australian Bight Alliance, and the Fight For The Bight!

The battle against the risky deep-sea oil drilling in the Great Australian Bight has come to ahead. Norwegian company Equinor wants to drill later this year. As part of their environment plan, Equinor was forced to supply oil spill modeling, which showed oil on beaches between Margaret River in the west and Port Macquarie in the east. Wildlife, marine ecologies, local industries, and communities would all be devastated. It would be a catastrophe on every level.

In support of the Great Australian Bight Alliance, people from all over the Sunshine Coast came together on the 13th of July 2019 to take a stand against the drilling.

The night kicked off with live music from Zac Gunthorpe & Shannon Carol ( Band Of Frequencies). Followed by the film screening of Surf Movie NEVERTOWN - Never town takes a journey along wild coastlines and talks to people fighting to keep them wild. Nevertown is as much a surf film as a conservation film. Raising awareness of the dangers our south coast faces due to rampant development and exploitation from resource companies.

The inspiring Belinda Baggs and Surfrider Foundation then jumper on stage for a Q&A, sharing their passionate opinions and wealth of knowledge with the people of Noosa. It was great to see how much is possible when people with a passion and drive come together to support and defend the environment.

The night wrapped up with a very generous Patagonia wetsuit raffle, plus many other great prizes. Land & Sea brewery were selling our special Fight For The Bight Beers & Tee’s with all proceeds going towards the Great Australian Bight Alliance.

The night was a HUGE success with vital funds raised and a phenomenal turn out of support. We are truly blessed to call this amazing Noosa community home.

Paddle Out

The following week we all rallied again to paddle out at Main Beach on a beautiful Noosa Sunday morning to show our support for The Fight For The Bight. Like many communities before us Noosa joined the thousands of people that supported paddle outs up and down the coast this year.

Land & Sea Brewery is so proud to be supporting community events like these and we were so blown away by the attendance on the day, people of all ages, came together to protect their beloved oceans.

Cheers to no bad days!
